The camps
What is the difference between Base Camp and Founders Camp?
Base Camp has six furnished, air-conditioned tents and a shared dining and lounge tent. Founders Camp has four larger elevated tented suites with living areas, private decks, butler service, a dedicated dining tent and a heated pool.
How large are the Founders Camp suites?
Each suite is approximately 1,000 square feet, with a bedroom, living area, deck, en-suite bathtub and shower, and a separate powder room.
Does each Founders suite have its own pool?
No. The heated pool is shared by Founders Camp guests. It is not an individual suite pool or a shared facility for Base Camp.
Which camp is best for families?
Tell us the number of adults, the children’s ages and how you prefer to share rooms. Founders suites include a pullout sofa, but the team must confirm occupancy and any extra-bed charges for your group.
Are the tents air-conditioned?
Base Camp offers air-conditioned tents with en-suite bathrooms. Founders Camp suites have underfloor heating and cooling. Both provide furnished accommodation beneath canvas.

Safaris & experiences
How do I book a safari?
Contact the Bagh Tola team with your dates, group details and interests. We can help plan permits and drives, subject to availability and current park rules.
Are tiger sightings guaranteed?
No. Wildlife is free-ranging and sightings cannot be guaranteed. The naturalist experience also includes learning about birds, other animals and the habitats around you.
What can I do between safaris?
Spend time at the machaan overlooking the waterhole, enjoy the lounge and library, or ask about naturalist walks, birding, cycling and village visits. Founders Camp guests also have use of their camp’s heated pool.
Do park safaris take place at the lodge?
No. Guests travel by road from Bagh Tola to their allotted park entry gate for the safari. The distance, transfer time and departure time depend on the confirmed gate and zone. Our team will explain these arrangements for your booking. Guided nature walks and cycling within the property are separate camp experiences.
How far in advance should I arrange safaris?
Contact us as soon as you know your travel dates. Safari permits are limited, and preferred dates and zones can fill. Let us confirm the available options before you finalise your itinerary.
Which safari zones can we visit?
Your drives depend on permits, current park arrangements and availability. Bagh Tola is conveniently located for the Magadhi and Khitauli areas; a particular zone is confirmed as part of your safari arrangements.
Are safaris included in the room rate?
Your personalised proposal will specify the accommodation, meals, safari arrangements, transfers and any extra charges. Please check these inclusions before confirming your stay.
When is the best time to visit?
The experience changes with the season. Winter mornings can be very cold, while the later months become much warmer. Share your preferred dates and interests so we can advise on the conditions and current safari availability.
Understand the landscape
Wildlife & history
What wildlife can I see in Bandhavgarh besides tigers?
Bandhavgarh supports leopards, sloth bears, deer, birds and many smaller animals. What you encounter varies with habitat, season and chance. Our naturalists encourage you to notice the whole forest, rather than judge a drive by a single sighting.
Can I watch birds around Bagh Tola?
Yes. The trees, open areas and water around camp offer opportunities for birdwatching between drives. Ask the naturalists what they have been observing during your visit, and bring binoculars if you have them.
What does a naturalist add to a safari?
A naturalist helps interpret the landscape: animal tracks, alarm calls, birds, plants and behaviour. This gives context to an encounter and makes a quiet stretch of forest rewarding too.
Can I request a particular tiger sighting?
You can share your interests, but individual animals cannot be booked or their movements predicted. Safari routes, permits and forest rules govern each drive; sightings are never guaranteed.
What does Bandhavgarh mean?
The name is commonly interpreted as “brother’s fort”. Local tradition associates the fort with Rama and his brother Lakshmana. This is a cultural legend, distinct from the archaeological evidence for the landscape’s history.
When did Bandhavgarh become a national park?
Bandhavgarh was notified as a national park in 1968 and joined the Project Tiger network in 1993. Its protected area has changed over time; the original national park and the wider tiger reserve are not interchangeable boundaries.
Can we visit Bandhavgarh’s fort and archaeological sites?
Access to historical sites depends on current forest permissions, permitted routes and local conditions. Please ask the team about what is possible for your dates. A safari booking does not automatically include a fort or archaeological visit.

The little details
Comfort & practicalities
What should I pack?
Bring comfortable neutral-coloured clothing, layers for early starts, a hat, sun protection, comfortable closed shoes, binoculars and your camera. Ask us for advice for your travel month and planned activities.
Is the camp accessible for guests with reduced mobility?
Please discuss your specific mobility and access needs with our team before booking. Founders suites are elevated and reached by walkways; we will help you assess a suitable arrangement.
Is Wi-Fi or mobile reception available?
Please ask our team about current connectivity in your chosen camp, particularly if you need to work or make important calls. We can help you plan around your requirements.
Can I bring a pet?
Please speak to the team before making arrangements to travel with a pet. We will confirm the current policy and whether a suitable stay is possible.
Can I walk around the forest on my own?
Please follow the camp team’s guidance about where and when to walk. Guided nature walks around camp are different from access to the national park, which is governed by park rules.
Bringing your stay together
Reservations
Where can I find rates and inclusions?
We prepare a proposal for your dates, preferred camp and group. It will set out rates, taxes, meal inclusions, safaris, transfers and any additional experiences.
What are the cancellation and payment terms?
Request the current payment, cancellation and amendment terms with your written proposal before confirming. Terms can depend on dates and the arrangements included.
How do I make a reservation?
Send an enquiry with your dates, preferred camp, number of guests and any safari or transfer needs. The team will send a proposal with availability, prices and terms. An enquiry on this website does not itself confirm a reservation.
Can we enquire about a group stay or an entire camp?
Yes, please share your group size, dates and the occasion. The team will discuss the available rooms, dining and safari arrangements, and whether exclusive use is possible for those dates.
